Why choose Eco-choice paints?

09 Oct 2024

In celebrating World Ecolabel Day, we can proudly say Resene is certified by Eco Choice Aotearoa! Choosing paint for your home can feel like a big job, but with the largest range of Eco-Choice approved paints in NZ, with the first products approved over 20 years ago, Resene makes it easy.

We’ve been committed to producing environmentally preferable paint products since just after the company began, launching the first waterborne paints in the 1950s, removing lead from paint proactively, joining the Environmental Choice programme in 1996 and continuing this mission today.

It’s also never been easier to be green with Resene’s plant based paints. The plant based range uses hybrid waterborne alkyds which aim to reduce fossil hydrocarbons (a chemical name for oil) in paint. Hybrid waterborne alkyds are paints made with plant oils (alkyd polymers), such as linseed and castor oil, and minerals.

And once you have finished the painting you can return your empty paint packaging and any leftover paint you don’t need or want to the Resene PaintWise recycling service (in NZ) or to Paintback in Australia.

Working with the Eco Choice Aotearoa team for over 20 years has helped us to continue to create new Eco Choice approved products and improve existing ones, making it easy for you to choose an Eco Choice product for most decorating projects, inside and out.
