A hole in three is better than a hole in one in this beanbag toss game. The board is in Resene Malibu, with circles outlined in Resene Jalapeno and numbers in Resene Blackjack.

A hole lot of fun!

3, 2, 1… who can get the most beanbags through the openings? This cornhole game will provide hours of entertainment. Allocate points for each hole on the board, and at the game’s end, the person with the highest score wins. Prop the board against a tree or elevate it off the ground with bricks.

You will need:

• Plywood panel. Leigh’s measured 6mm thick x 1220mm tall x 605mm wide
• Jigsaw, drill, and drill bits
• Sandpaper and cloth
• Resene testpots in your choice of Resene colours – we used Resene Malibu, Resene Jalapeno and Resene Blackjack.
• Paint brushes

Step 1. Draw three circles in various sizes onto the board, with the smallest at the top and largest at the bottom. Leigh used a mop bucket and a four litre paint tin to trace the circles.

Step 2. Drill a hole in the middle of each circle, using it as a starting point to cut a circle with the jigsaw.

Step 3. Sand the edges of the holes and wipe away any dust with a cloth.

Step 4. Paint the board on both sides. Leigh used Resene Malibu.

Step 5. Paint the edges of the holes to mark out the targets. Leigh used Resene Jalapeno.

Step 6. Either by using a stencil or freehand, draw the numbers of points allocated to each circle. Paint over the numbers. Leigh used Resene Blackjack.

Top tip. If you’re unable to find beanbags in stores, create your own. Cut out two pieces of fabric in a rectangle shape measuring about 150mm by 100mm. Sew to create a pocket and turn inside out. Fill with rice and sew the open flap shut to finish the beanbag. Paint in your favourite Resene colour
