Wrapped in the holiday spirit: A fun Christmas DIY
05 Dec 2024
If you are short of space for a big Christmas tree or you prefer a more minimalist look then these rope trees could be a great solution. These look great on an entrance table or in a middle of dining table. They are compact so easy to store for years to come!
You will need:
- 2 x different sizes of polystyrene cones/trees (ours were 44cm and 30cm in height)
- Clear craft glue
- Fine cream rope
- Wooden stars
- Paintbrush
- Resene testpots in your favourite Christmassy hues. We used Resene Half Forest Green and Resene Forest Green
Step 1: Glue your rope to each of the polystyrene trees using the clear craft glue. We started at the bottom and wound-up securing rope at the top (which is hidden by the star).
Step 2: Paint the lower parts of the rope tree in your chosen colour – we used Resene Half Forest Green. If you want to get a perfect line, then use some painters masking tape.
Step 3: Paint the wooden stars in your chosen colour – we used Resene Forest Green – and glue to the trees.
Wall painted in Resene Half Doeskin and console in Resene Spanish White.
