Remember potato printing? Turns out it’s not just for the kids. We love this printing idea, creating a geometric pattern using the humble potato. We’ve printed ours onto linen to wrap around pot plants, a simple yet thoughtful gift that friends and family will love.
You will need:
Step one. Cut the potato in half and then cut out a triangle shape. Leave it to dry out a little bit before using.
Step two. Pour Resene Wimbledon into the tray and dip your potato lightly into the paint. Or you can brush the Resene paint onto the potato print if you want to get a lighter print effect.
Step three. Start printing! Print the triangles all over the linen or calico until it’s filled with the geometric pattern.
Step four. Cut the printed linen into squares, enough to wrap around your pot plants.
Step five. Cut twine and tie the printed linen around your pot plants. They’re now all ready to gift!
Top tip: Try cutting other shapes out of potatoes for your prints. Vary the Resene colours and colour combinations to get a variety of finished effects.
